This May, Dhaka will transform into the heart of agribusiness innovation as the 9th Poultry & Livestock Bangladesh International Expo 2026 unfolds from May 7 to 9. Celebrated as the country’s oldest and largest international exhibition dedicated to poultry, livestock, and animal husbandry, the three‑day event organized by CEMS‑Global promises more than just an industry showcase.
It offers a prestigious stage for poultry, dairy, livestock, and aquaculture products and services, where global buyers, suppliers, and industry leaders gather to explore ground-breaking technologies, discover new opportunities, and chart the future of food and farming in Bangladesh.
For nine consecutive years, the expo has served as the premier stage for the industry, highlighting its growth and transformation. By 2026, annual per capita consumption has risen to 10.4 kilograms of poultry meat and 6.3 kilograms of eggs, equivalent to around 134 pieces, marking a clear upward trend from 2025 levels.
This sustained expansion underscores the poultry industry’s vital role in meeting the country’s protein needs and emphasizes its growing importance within Bangladesh’s food security and agribusiness landscape.
The achievements in Bangladesh’s poultry subsector are striking, driven by rapid expansion of the poultry population and sustained demand growth. According to BPICC, investment that stood at just BDT 1,500 crore in the 1980s has now soared to BDT 39,000 crore, underscoring the sector’s transformation into a powerhouse of agribusiness. This remarkable leap highlights poultry as one of the most dynamic engines of growth within Bangladesh’s food and agriculture industry.
By 2026, the poultry industry is on the verge of self‑sufficiency, fuelled by rising production and strong export potential. The sector is set to attract BDT 50 billion in fresh investment within the next two years, positioning it as a dynamic engine of growth and a gateway to global markets. This momentum is further reinforced by the commercial poultry sector’s expansion at an impressive 15% annual growth rate, with investment projected to double over the next decade.
Today, more than 1 million entrepreneurs and 8 million workers drive this industry, producing a staggering 10.22 billion eggs and 1.46 million tons of poultry meat each year. This scale of production cements poultry as one of the country’s most dynamic engines of agribusiness growth and food security.
Alongside poultry, Bangladesh’s livestock population has surged past 46 crores by FY 2025‑26, cementing the nation’s self‑sufficiency in meat production. This growth enables the country to meet a per capita demand of over 850 grams of meat, underscoring the livestock sector’s pivotal role in ensuring food security and driving agribusiness expansion.
The expo will reveal the rapid developments in the industry as well as new technology components, showcasing the exponential growth that began in 1995 when the poultry industry started in an organized manner in Bangladesh.
In just two decades, the industry has seen remarkable progress, with over a hundred thousand poultry farms, both small and large, spread across the country. Alongside poultry, the fisheries and livestock sectors remain major pillars of Bangladesh’s economy, with more than 10 million people directly dependent on these sectors for their livelihoods.
With over 250 exhibiting companies, 480 booths and pavilions, participation from 12 countries, and more than 11,700 business visitors, the 9th Poultry & Livestock Bangladesh International Expo 2026 stands as the nation’s largest platform for the industry.
